The new packing shed/shop

Wowsers, what amazing September sunshine – feels like it’s good for the spirits (which is much neded to offset the news).

We’re now packing our boxes in our new shop – see pic above –  very exciting, already seeing how much quicker and easier it’s going to be. Even in the heat this week it’s stayed cool so that’s a bonus.

We’re still working out the logistics of opening as a shop to sell veg. We’ll definitely be starting with very limited opening hours and see how we go – hopefully we can start giving you some more concrete info about when you can pop by and see us (social distanced, in mask, etc etc – doesn’t mean we can’t have a chat and friendly wave!). We do have a new name and logo for the shop so we’ll be sharing that too very soon.

We’re running low on boxes, if you could remember to leave any out next week that would be great.

Boxes this week
Hope you’ve been enjoying the Roscoff onions – we had some raw chopped finely with some tomatoes and olive oil / balsamic….so so good (and I normally can’t stand raw onion!).

Next week we have Romanesco and purple cauliflowers – so look out for those, the Romanesco in particular are a bit strange looking!

What’s been happening this week?
More harvesting… tomatoes (11kg), courgettes (2kg), leeks (3.5kg), runner beans (2kg), aubergines (2.5kg).
Beans and courgettes coming to an end. We’ve pulled out all the beetroot plants – they had finished but we’ve not actually been that successful with our beetroot this year, we’re thinking we might not have watered it enough a the start of the growing season (and the mice didn’t help!). We’ve been moving the massive tarps which we use to smother weeds on beds that we aren’t using.
EYG Wholefoods
Let us know if you’d like any extras next week. We’ll invoice you separately for these bits, so if you have something extra from us and no invoice please just give us a nudge! If you can avoid paying by Paypal for small amounts that’s really helpful as we get charged.

We’re running a bit low on stock at the moment as with moving to the shop we’re just trying to stay focused on the veg but we’ll top up again soon and let you know what we have.

  • Malt Wheat Flakes (organic, British) – 500g @ £2.40
  • Red fox carlin peas (organic, British) – 500g @ £1.40
  • Green lentils (organic, British) – 500g @ £3.40
  • Wholemeal flour (organic) – 1.5kg @ £3.80

Organic lemons – we’ve got lemons next week (£2.80/kg) if you’d like them.

A couple of recipe ideas…

1) Cavalo nero pesto: Recipe here

2) Celery soup: Recipe here

As always, if you’re stuck as to what to do with anything, or really struggling to like something that’s in your box, please let me know and we’ll try to give you some ideas.
